Parkside Access To College Credit
What is PACC?
The Parkside Access to College Credit (PACC) Program at UW-Parkside is a dual enrollment program (also referred to as concurrent enrollment) in partnership with participating high schools that allow students to take college-level courses while still in high school, earn both high school and college credit. PACC courses are taught at the high school, typicallyduring the regular school day, by university approved high school teachers who have adjunct status at UWP.
Who Teaches PACC Courses?
High School teachers who teach PACC courses meet the same qualification requirements as adjunct instructors at the university. UWP faculty determines if a teacher is qualified. PACC adjuncts instructors are paired with UWP faculty liaisons who support them to ensure the course is the exact same course offered on campus.
What is a PACC course?
PACC courses are developed through a collaborative partnership between UW-Parkside faculty and the PACC adjunct instructor. Together, they ensure that students experience the same learning outcomes, academic expectations, and course content as students taking the equivalent course at UW-Parkside.
While the course follows UW-Parkside standards, it is taught in a familiar high school setting during the regular school day. This unique model allows students to experience college-level coursework while benefiting from the structure, support, and increased classroom contact time that high schools provide. College courses are more rigorous than high school courses, and students should expect to have out-of-school work.
Students sign up for these courses during the high school course scheduling process. Students are given the option to take the course for high school credit only or high school and college credit.
Earn College Credits in High School
PACC courses vary by high school. Students should see their counselor or contact the PACC Program to find out which course(s) are offered at their high school.
Students who successfully complete PACC courses earn college credit and have an official UW-Parkside transcript.
To participate in the PACC Program eligible students must be enrolled in a high school course offering the PACC option, complete the PACC application process, and enroll in the PACC course through their UWP student account. The PACC team visits every participating school each semester to help students through this process.
