Housing And Dining Accommodations
Dining
Meal Plan Modification
Student Accessibility Service considers requests for meal plan modification accommodations on an individual case-by-case basis for individuals with disabilities on campus. Reasonable accommodations for meal plan modifications may include, but are not limited to, a reduced or modified meal plan and/or consultation with campus staff to review nutrition options on campus, as determined by the Accessibility Services Office, in an interactive process with the student, and in consultation with campus partners.
Housing
Student Accessibility Services (SAS) approves housing-related accommodations that provide eligible students with disabilities equal access. Requests for a specific room, residence hall, suitemates, or roommates are not accommodations handled by SAS because specific housing placements fall outside its scope. Students with questions about placement options or living with specific individuals should contact Housing & Residence Life, which can provide information about placement options and room-change policies.
Examples of housing accommodations include a single room, kitchen access, a ground-floor room, and installation of a vibrating and visual alert system.
Requesting Accommodations
Students must complete all required Housing & Residence Life forms by the deadline to be eligible for a housing accommodation. Students requesting housing accommodations must complete the housing application as soon as accepting their offer of admission. On the housing application, students should indicate that they will work with SAS on an accommodated housing request.
Students can initiate a housing accommodation request through SAS by completing the SAS Accommodation Request Form found below.
The deadlines for incoming students to submit housing accommodation requests and documentation are as follows:
Fall occupancy: August 1
Spring occupancy: November 1
Summer occupancy: May 1
Students who submit housing accommodation requests after the deadline will be placed on a waiting list and assigned to rooms that meet their approved accommodations as space becomes available. Openings may not occur during the next academic year and all housing placements are based on availability.
If you are requesting housing accommodations you must fill out the Public Accommodation request form and meet with an Accessibility staff member.
Your provider will need to complete the Housing Accommodation form. Once this is submitted, our office will review and determine what housing accommodations you may be eligible for.
