The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) is recruiting for student employment for the 2024-2025 academic year. The mission of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs is to holistically support underrepresented students in their success while fostering a culture of belonging, recognition, and equity at UW-Parkside. Always Reaching Upward (ARU) Mentorship Program
Always Reaching Upward (ARU) is a mentorship program dedicated to the academic and sociocultural success of incoming college students. Experienced college students (ARU Mentors) are paired with incoming students (ARU Mentees) to provide a connection with UW-Parkside and its resources throughout the academic year.

Marketing and Graphic Design Assistant
The Marketing and Graphic Design Assistant will work in line with Marketing training and brand/style guidelines to create promotional items for programs throughout the year for the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) and the Genders & Sexualities Advocacy Center (GSAC). Projects include work on collateral pieces, building digital assets, production of short videos, and website updates. In addition, they will manage the department’s social media accounts and assist in the development and execution of a communication/marketing plan each semester including highlighting the office’s programs and services, events, and specific themed campaigns. This position also has the potential to count as an internship for the right student – earn credit and get paid while working right here on campus!
Student Employment Positions Available
The ARU Student Coordinator is an experienced student leader that assists with the day-to-day functions in the office and provides necessary support to the Always Reaching Upward Mentoring Program. They complete administrative tasks, send communications, and assist with planning OMSA and ARU Programs. The ARU Student Coordinator also serves as a resource and liaison for both students in the ARU program, multicultural student organizations, and the campus community.
Compensation and Hours
- $13.00 per hour
- Approximately 7-10 hours per week
Qualifications
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- Must be a junior or senior in good standing with the university.
- Must have 1 year of experience mentoring program or related student leadership experience.
- Must be flexible with availability of schedule.
- Must make a full academic year commitment as an ARU Student Coordinator

ARU Mentors are experienced college students that demonstrate exemplary leadership and passion to help others succeed. They serve as role models and as a positive resource for mentees (incoming students). They communicate regularly with their mentees to help them achieve their goals and to create a home for them at UW-Parkside. They engage in leadership and professional development activities and plan programming for mentees.
Compensation and Hours
- $12.00 per hour
- Approximately 5-7 hours per week
Qualifications
- Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
- Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior in good standing with the university.
- Must be flexible with availability of schedule.
- Must make a full academic year commitment as a mentor.
