What Does AmeriCorps VISTA Offer?
What Does UW-Parkside Offer?
Outside Employment PolicyAs of May 2015, the VISTA program revised its policy on outside employment to make VISTA service more accessible. You are now able to have employment outside of your VISTA position, as long as it does not interfere in any way with your project assignment. This is huge for VISTA members! If you are relocating to the area and uncertain about cost of living and making it work on the living allowance, this gives you the option to make some extra money to support yourself in a new community. |

Living in Our Community
The UW-Parkside VISTA Project places members throughout Racine and Kenosha, Wisconsin. Idyllically settled on Lake Michigan, these municipalities are centrally located between Chicago, IL and Milwaukee, WI.
Is it your first time in Southeastern Wisconsin? Be sure to check out Real Racine and the Kenosha Visitors & Convention Bureau for all of the local events, food hot spots, and more!
Living on a VISTA budget can be challenging, but there are plenty of ways to cut monthly costs. Take advantage of food share benefits, low budget meal resources, free events in the area, energy assistance if needed, living with a roommate, and more! UW-Parkside VISTA Project offers a $100 rent stipend for housing assistance to make living costs easier to manage.
