What We Do

We support applied research partnerships and partner-responsive training by building clear pathways, practical tools, and faculty capacity at UW–Parkside—so collaboration is easier to start, easier to scope, and easier to sustain.

Programs

Applied Research Partnerships

What it is: We help partners and UW–Parkside faculty explore and develop applied, use-inspired projects that address real-world needs.

What you can get:

  • A structured scoping conversation to clarify goals, timelines, and fit
  • Support identifying potential faculty expertise and project pathways
  • A pilot-ready model (templates + process) for partnership projects

Examples of outcomes:

  • A defined project scope and deliverables plan
  • A partnership roadmap and check-in cadence
  • Project outputs suitable for implementation, learning, or scaling (depending on fit)

Rapid Response Training Partnerships

What it is: We are building an operational model for partner-responsive training—so organizations can access UW–Parkside expertise for workforce-aligned learning needs.

What you can get:

  • Clarified training goals, audience, and constraints (time, format, delivery)
  • A defined process for moving from request → design → delivery
  • Prototype training modules that can be adapted to partner needs

Examples of topics (illustrative):

  • Workforce-aligned upskilling / reskilling needs identified with partners
  • Industry-focused instruction and applied learning topics
  • Short-course or modular training formats (depending on partner fit and feasibility)

Faculty Development & Events

What it is: A paced learning series that builds faculty readiness for applied research and partner engagement.

What faculty gain:

  • Clear guidance on scoping projects with partners
  • Practical templates and “how-to” resources
  • Shared language and expectations for collaboration and follow-through

Frequency (Year 1 target): A minimum of four sessions across the year.

Partnership Infrastructure We’re Building

What it is: The systems that make all of this easier and more consistent.

What it enables:

  • A single front door for inquiries so requests don’t get lost
  • An internal knowledge base + template library to reduce friction and rework
  • A faculty expertise directory (MVP) to support matching and discovery
  • Better tracking, documentation, and reporting for sustainability

How It Fits Together

  1. Partner submits an inquiry
  2. ARISE acknowledges and triages
  3. Scoping conversation (clarify goals, fit, timeline, and next steps)
  4. Project or training is designed (templates + defined roles + check-ins)
  5. Deliver + collect feedback (so we improve what works and scale what’s feasible)

What To Expect

Timelines vary. Some requests can move quickly; others require longer planning and coordination.

Not every request is a fit. We’ll help assess alignment and suggest the best pathway forward.

We route to the right place. If another UW–Parkside unit is the best owner for a request, we’ll connect you.
