Published: August 5, 2025

Tyler CarleThe University of Wisconsin-Parkside has announced Tyler Carle, MS, PA-C, as the Director of the new Master of Science in Physician Assistant Program (MSPA). The new program is the first public Physician Assistant (PA) program in Southeastern Wisconsin and is planning to accept its first students in 2027. The 27-month program is a natural evolution of UW-Parkside’s Pre-Health program and will continue the tradition of UW-Parkside providing high-quality health care professionals to meet the needs of our local communities.

The program will be a standard MSPA program providing students with one year of academic coursework followed by 15 months of both required and elective clinical rotations. The MSPA program will offer students a natural pathway from the Pre-Physician Assistant concentration, which facilitates the development of students’ basic clinical skills through its required 300-hour internships.

Carle is a certified Physician Assistant and Doctor of Physician Associate (DPA) candidate. He brings over eight years of clinical experience in family medicine and urgent care. He has served as Assistant Professor and Lead Academic Coordinator at Touro University’s Manhattan PA program since 2022.

Holding a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Saint Peter’s University, Carle graduated summa cum laude and was recognized as a Top 10 graduate. He is passionate about student-centered education, PA professional advocacy, and improving healthcare access.

Dr. Bryan Lewis, Director of Center for Health Sciences and Pre-Health Programs at UW-Parkside, is excited for the experience and leadership Carle brings to the program. “We are excited to add Tyler’s experience, energy, and passion for education, student advocacy and community engagement to our own and look forward to the full implementation of the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Program here at UW-Parkside under his excellent leadership,” Lewis said.

In anticipation of this exciting new program, UW-Parkside has renovated space in Tallent Hall, which will serve the needs of both MSPA students and nursing and pre-health students. The innovative new spaces will feature an 8-tank cadaver lab and includes a new multi-use classroom, observation rooms for practical training, and amenities to support students and provide them with a positive learning environment.

The MSPA program provides the path toward far-reaching partnerships, collaborations, and opportunities for our students, partners, and the region as a whole. The program is a partnership with regional healthcare facilities, including Advocate-Aurora Hospital, Ascension Hospital, and Froedtert South Hospital. The cohort-based MSPA program will follow the requirements, standards, and guidance of the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
