HARIBO supports UW-Parkside with second year as Parkside Day presenting sponsor
SOMERS, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is pleased to announce that HARIBO of America will serve as the presenting sponsor for the university’s third annual Parkside Day on April 15, 2021. This is the second consecutive year that HARIBO has taken the presenting sponsor role for Parkside Day, a 24-hour online challenge that supports student success and celebrates Parkside Ranger spirit.
HARIBO is establishing its first North American manufacturing site in Pleasant Prairie and has forged a partnership with UW-Parkside to support education and talent development in the region. In 2019, HARIBO and UW-Parkside announced a ten-year partnership to provide more access to higher education for students, create internship and career opportunities, and launch the RangerVision campaign to enhance the university’s athletics facilities. The competition court in UW-Parkside’s Alfred and Bernice De Simone Gymnasium is named HARIBO Court in recognition of this partnership.
“HARIBO’s investment in UW-Parkside has an incredible and lasting impact on our students and alumni. Thanks to their support, UW-Parkside students are thriving despite the challenges of the past year, and students are graduating ready to lead in the diverse, innovative community of southeastern Wisconsin, and beyond,” said UW-Parkside Chancellor Debbie Ford.
HARIBO’s Parkside Day presenting sponsorship continues the company’s support of the Future Focus Fund, the university and UW-Parkside Foundation’s largest need-based student aid fund. A special area of focus are UW-Parkside seniors who need additional support to complete their final semesters and graduate.
Since Future Focus Fund awards began in 2019, nearly 250 UW-Parkside students have benefitted from scholarships and emergency aid. The Future Focus Fund will be a featured area of support in Parkside Day’s efforts to secure gifts from alumni and others in the UW-Parkside community.
“HARIBO is committed to giving back to the vibrant community in southeastern Wisconsin, and our partnership with UW-Parkside is an important part of that commitment,” said Wes Saber, executive vice president and chief financial officer, HARIBO of America. “Programs like the Future Focus Fund are a critical resource to give educational opportunities to current and future students, paving the way for tomorrow’s workforce. We are honored to work alongside UW-Parkside to help bring that to life as we believe everyone deserves access to quality, affordable education.”
