Memorial Giving: David R. Beach

Dr. David R. Beach began his career at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 1972 and retired in 2007 as an associate professor of psychology with emeritus status. He found great joy in teaching and mentoring students, and in working with colleagues from across disciplines.

While psychology was David's profession, his passion was music. David was an avid concert-goer and sponsor of UW-Parkside’s music programming, including the long-standing Friday noon concert series. Through his support, UW-Parkside hosted guest artists and ensembles who brought a wide variety of music to the campus, including classical, jazz, folk, and world music. In his later years, David turned his attention to supporting music students through scholarship funding. The Beach-Rigau Gift of Music Endowed Scholarship (established with his late partner, Carmen Rigau) and the David R. Beach Continuing Student Endowed Scholarship, will be a continuing gift to UW-Parkside students.
