AREAS OF EXPERTISE
- inorganic chemistry
I am originally from southern Illinois, where I completed my undergraduate degree in both chemistry and biology. My graduate research focused on combining inorganic spin-crossover metal complexes with bacterial proteins to create sensors for things like amino acids. In my teaching I try to show how topics are interconnected across what appear to be very different fields but can be brought together in ways that are more interesting than either field alone.
Teaching, Research/Creative & Consulting Interests
Teaching Interests
I primarily teach introductory Inorganic as well as General Chemistry, and associated labs. I enjoy being able to introduce students to the field of chemistry, and hopefully encourage them to learn more in later classes as well.
