Dr. Kim is interested in institutional program evaluation, childhood sociology and mantling racism among Asian Americans. She graduated from University of Michigan in 1995 with a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education. She is a multi-disciplinary scholar with the background of Sociology and Education.

Teaching Interests

Her teaching areas include Research Methods, Data Collection and Analysis, Program Evaluation, Childhood and Society, Asians in America Society and Diversity Circles.

Research Interests

Her major research area is program evaluation. Collaborating with local agencies she conducts research projects with students. Dr. Kim’s research interested is in examining the process of developing Program Evaluation Certificate program and its value of a sociology college degree for employment. She examines the effects of Program Evaluation program for developing tangible skills for the labor market and advanced academic programs. Her another research topic is Teaching Sociology focused on online course offerings for Sociology Students.

Consulting Interests

As a Sociology faculty, her interest is to collaborate with local agencies and schools and provides program evaluation and research related consulting services. Her another interest is the second generation of Asian immigrants. She has worked to develop workshops to mentoring and guiding them to find social network among Asian especially Korean professional women.
