How do I log in to Academic Planner? 

Log in to Navigate Student from a laptop/desktop computer, then click on the Planner tab. 

Can I use Academic Planner on the phone app, the Navigate Student App? 

At this time, the Academic Planner tool is not available on the phone app. Login to Navigate Student from a laptop/desktop computer, then click on the Planner tab. 

My advisor sent me a notification regarding my classes in academic planner, how do I OPT IN to receive notifications?  

You can OPT IN to receive notifications on your mobile device through push notifications, email, and/or text messaging. Click on the “Settings” button and “Update Notification Settings” to OPT IN.

Can I register for classes using Academic Planner?  

Yes! When the registration period is open, build your schedule for the semester, then click on the “Register” button. 

How do I search for a specific course in Academic Planner?  

When searching for courses through Academic Planner, use the “Keyword” search option and type in the course code without any spaces. For example, to search for English 101, type: ENGL101.    Once you get a list of courses, you can sort by course code, title or credit level by using the arrows at the top of the column. 

The countdown timer in Academic Planner counts down to the date that I can register for classes; and SOLAR shows the date and time that I can register for classes. Is this normal? 

Yes, this is normal. Academic Planner shows a countdown timer that counts down to the date that you can register for classes; and SOLAR shows the date and time that you can register for classes. 

I am trying to register for classes through Academic Planner. I had a hold that I resolved earlier today, and it is still showing up. How often are holds updated in Academic Planner? 

Holds are updated every 24 hours in Academic Planner, so check back tomorrow and everything should be up-to-date. 

I added a class and I dropped a class today and it is not showing up in Academic Planner yet. Will it show up later today or tomorrow?

I want to drop a class, do I need a pin number to drop the course?

No, you can just leave it blank and proceed to drop the course.

Can I still register through Navigate if I don't see a academic template or I have not built my academic plan yet?

Yes, you can. You can build your plan for the upcoming semester by using the Smart Catalog feature to search for courses and drage them over to a term. You can then proceed to scheduling and registering for your courses. 

Why does SOLAR say that a course is 7 weeks and Academic Planner say that the same course is 6 weeks?

The length of time referenced in Academic Planner does not include finals week in the calculation.

What does “requisite” course mean in Academic Planner?  

Requisite course means required course. 

My professor gave me a PIN for a course that I am planning to take this upcoming semester. Is a PIN in Academic Planner the same as a permission number? 

Yes, a PIN is the same as a permission number. Type your PIN (or your permission number) into the section labeled PIN in Academic Planner. Most courses do not require a PIN. 

I want to search for a specific section of a course, where do I find the CLASS NUMBER?  

You can use the online course schedule to find the 4 digit code associated with the specific section of the course.

Can I map out my classes using Academic Planner?  

Yes, you can use the Academic Planner to plan your entire degree, term-by-term. There is also a communication tool built into Academic Planner so you can get feedback from your advisor to make sure that you are on the right track. 

Does my major automatically display in Academic Planner? 

Yes! Your major is pulled directly from SOLAR, our student information system.  

One of my majors is appearing in Academic Planner, but not my second major. Is this normal? 

Yes, this is normal. Navigate displays one major, so if you have a double major, your second major will not appear in Academic Planner. 

I declared my major yesterday and it is not appearing in Academic Planner, yet. What do I do? 

Majors are updated regularly in Academic Planner. If you recently declared your major or recently changed your major, allow time for the system to update. 

I received a waiver/exception/substitution for one of my courses, how do I indicate this in Academic Planner? 

You can select Mark as Met. Discuss this with your advisor to verify that the requirement has been met. 

How do I move a course from a previous term to a future term, specifically if I failed it or withdrew or need to retake for a higher grade?

In the plan section (on the right), click the "hamburger" icon (three horizontal lines) to the left of the course name, click Move To Term, select desired future term. 

My transfer credit has not been processed yet, how do I indicate that this has been completed in Academic Planner?  

You can select Mark as Met. Discuss this with your advisor to verify that the requirement has been met. 

I declared my major a long time ago and nothing shows up for me in Academic Planner. How far back does Academic Planner go?  

Academic Planner goes back to 2017, if you declared your major prior to 2017, please work with your advisor to create an academic plan. You can use Academic Planner to plan courses for future terms and to register for classes.
