In June 2022, Dr. Caitlin Curtis and Anthropology student, Ris Homar, embarked on a journey abroad to work on the Ararat Plain Southeast Archaeological Project in Armenia. This project surveys the landscape and excavates Bronze Age Vedi Fortress on a picturesque hilltop with views of the famous Mount Ararat. We also developed and ran a new outreach program for local children to engage them in archaeological excavation, lab work, and presenting their finds in a museum. During our time abroad, we stayed in the rural village of Urtsadzor but also made many visits to the major city of Yerevan; thus, we were able to experience the different landscapes of daily life in Armenia. Come to hear more about our travels and take part in a Q & A session with us!
