Displaying Curiosity - from Cabinet to Museums

"Displaying Curiosity--from Cabinets to Museums" is an exhibit created by Dr. Greg
Mayer. in the Art in the Library area.

This pop-up show examines the concept of curiosity and curiosities in the historical light
of the man whose collections formed the basis of The British Museum, The British
Library and the Natural History Museum, Sir Hans Sloane [1660-1753]. The exhibit
demonstrates how Sloane conceptualized museum organization by implementing the
same system on a variety of curious objects owned by Mayer and other campus citizens.
