Parkside Athletics seeks an Assistant AD/Strategic Communications and Brand Management to lead the department’s growing and progressive efforts in communications, media relations, video production, branding, and licensing. The Assistant AD will oversee and direct the communications efforts for the athletics department and its sport programs, including the coordination of statistics and media coverage, management of ParksideRangers.com, creative content creation, and game day responsibilities.
Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the Assistant AD will serve as a member of the athletics leadership team and will collaborate with our coaches and staff. The successful candidate will supervise a communications graduate assistant, video production graduate assistant, student workers and interns, and gameday staff.
All work will be done in accordance with university, conference, and NCAA regulations. Due to the nature of this work, a willingness and flexibility to work nights and weekends is required. This position is a campus security authority and mandatory reporter as defined by federal and state law.

Reports To: The Assistant Director of Athletics for Strategic Communication and Brand Management will report to the Director of Athletics.
Essential Job Functions
Parkside Athletics seeks an Assistant AD/Strategic Communications and Brand Management to lead the department’s growing and progressive efforts in communications, media relations, video production, branding, and licensing. The Assistant AD will oversee and direct the communications efforts for the athletics department and its sport programs, including the coordination of statistics and media coverage, management of ParksideRangers.com, creative content creation, and game day responsibilities.
Sports Information/Media Relations
- Serve as the public relations liaison for Parkside Athletics, disseminating information, developing relationships, and promoting teams, coaches, and student-athletes to local, regional, and national media.
- Management, administration, and content creation for ParksideRangers.com and department social media accounts.
- Coordinate, generate and compile statistical databases for all sports archives, including overseeing statistical and press coverage at home contests.
- Manage inventory of all content – print, photo, web, video, records, statistics, awards and all other athletically related content – for media and historical records needs.
- Lead the execution of the Parkside Athletics Hall of Fame, including nominations and voting, communication with honorees, and work on the promotion, program, and script for the event.
- Oversee the athletics awards program, including the annual Ranger Awards and the nominations, leadership and execution of department, university, GLIAC, NCAA, regional, and national honors.
Digital Media/Video Production
- Oversee and execute the creation of creative and effective graphic design for social media, print and video.
- Ensure high-quality on-demand and live video production, including creation of content aimed at revenue generation and storytelling, and oversight of live digital streaming and video board.
- Collaborates with external relations team and sport programs to ensure quality and creative social media content.
Brand Management
- Work to ensure consistent brand standards and maximize enhancement of brand visibility and reputation.
- Serves as liaison to CLC Communications and vendors as licensing manager.
- Oversee the Ranger Store, including budgeting, ordering, inventory, pricing, and staffing.
- Manage facility enhancement projects as they relate to branding and ensure completion.
- Work as the liaison to BSN Sports/Nike, approving all orders for team and department use.
Administration
- Serve as a member of the athletics leadership team.
- Work as a key member of the external relations team, which collaborates on the department’s revenue generation, marketing, brand enhancement, and communications strategies and initiatives.
- Effectively lead and supervise a communications graduate assistant, video production graduate assistant, student interns and workers, and gameday staff.
- Prepare and manage assigned budgets.
- Execute all responsibilities in accordance with the NCAA, UW-Parkside, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), University of Wisconsin System, and UW-Parkside Foundation policies and procedures.
- Consistently demonstrate a positive team player attitude, building and maintaining professional working relationships with all departmental staff, including but not limited to the athletics administration, the sports medicine department, support staff, and other department coaches.
- Represent the department through collaboration with a campus groups, including serving as liaison to University Relations.
- Represent the department appropriately and intentionally through community involvement, speaking engagements, media responsibilities, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous experience working in College/Professional Athletics
