The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Special Education.
Responsibilities include teaching courses in the teacher education department and curriculum development at the undergraduate level; supervision of clinical field experiences and student teaching; and working collaboratively with the Institute of Professional Educator Development (IPED) staff, teacher education faculty, the IPED Executive Committee, and the IPED Advisory Council. This position requires service to the profession, College, University and local community and mentoring students with a strong focus on the clinical program and the schools and community groups supporting those placements. The successful candidate may be required to teach online and hybrid courses and/or weekend and evening classes.
This position will teach and supervise 24 credits annually (4/4 standard fall/spring course teaching load) in the teacher education department, as assigned by the department Chair. Opportunities to teach additional courses in the Summer and Winterim semesters may be available for additional compensation depending upon the needs of the educator preparation program. This position is expected to establish and maintain an active research program in the field of education. In addition, the position will be expected to contribute service to UW-Parkside, the College of Social Sciences and Professional Studies (CSSPS), the Institute of Professional Educator Development, and the local and regional community.

- Conducting clinical observations of teacher candidates in PK-12 classrooms

Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction or related field in education with emphasis in special education. Applicants with 'all but dissertation' (ABD) will be considered; however, a Ph.D. or Ed.D. is required by the time of appointment.
- Ability to supervise and/or mentor teacher candidates
- Experience working with diverse student populations and a demonstrated commitment to the success of under represented minorities
- Knowledge of special education pedagogy and the integration of technology into teaching and learning
- A minimum of three years of successful teaching in K-12 settings, or equivalent as determined by the department
