Position Title: College Navigator (2 positions being filled)
Employment Type: Full-time, exempt, non-instructional Academic Staff
Reports To: Admissions Assistant Director, Access Programs
Pay Range: $40,000 - $45,000
Essential Job Functions
The primary focus of the College Navigator’s role is to increase the college-going rates of underserved and first-generation students from our region by building partnerships with the local school districts and relevant community agencies to support prospective students and their families with the admissions process. The College Navigators will engage students in identified high schools; promoting educational and career opportunities and guiding them through the admissions process. The College Navigators will build relationships with high school counselors, attend college fairs, maintain follow-up contact with prospective students and their families, arrange campus visits and tours, offer student and parent/guardian workshops, and provide guidance related to financial aid and scholarships.
The two College Navigators will work with the Assistant Director of Access Programs within the Admissions Office to develop, implement, and manage programs for prospective student outreach, recruitment, and admissions.

Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and a passion for working with underserved youth.
- One or more years of extracurricular college involvement or relevant work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with public speaking and group presentations.
- Ability to build a college-going culture by counseling prospective students and their families/support networks on educational planning, admissions requirements, and career opportunities.
- Possesses exemplary customer relations skills demonstrated by an understanding of the value of positive interactions with students, families, colleagues, and other university partners.
- Capable of working autonomously and exhibiting ethical and prudent decision making.
The College Navigators will split their time between the Admissions Office and the identified local high schools and community centers. Minority and bilingual individuals are encouraged to apply. Evening and weekend work may be required and individuals must possess a valid driver’s license.
