Position Title: Graduate Assistant (Digital Media & Content Creation)

Employment Type: Part Time, Academic Staff, Salaried

Reports To: The Digital Media & Content Creation GA will report to the Assistant AD for Strategic Communications & Brand Management.

    

The Digital Media and Content Creation graduate assistant will work as a member of the Strategic Communications and Brand Management office to effectively tell the story of Parkside Athletics through video and other digital media content.


Essential Job Functions

• Work as a team member in the Strategic Communications and Brand Management office.

• Produce, coordinate, and edit, the in-house production of external and internal video content to be used on social media, ParksideRangers.com and more.

• Assist in the production of all live video production during home events on the Parkside Sports Network.

• Capture and edit in-game video content for highlight videos, social media, and other promotional items.

• Participate in conceptualizing and collaborating with departmental units and coaching staffs on compelling video stories to be produced across the athletics department.

• Online and printed graphic design, including but not limited to the production of schedule posters, promotional graphics, social media campaigns and all other graphic design projects.

• Help to create content and continue to grow Parkside’s presence on social media, including Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, snapchat, LinkedIn and YouTube.

• Travel to select away athletic events as necessary.

• Manage a group communications and video interns that provide assistance during game days and in the office.

• Live game updates on social media.

• Other duties as assigned by the athletics administration.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree

The successful candidate will have previous experience with social media management, videography, video editing and graphic design.

The successful candidates will work a 12-month appointment for the 2023-24 academic year with the opportunity for renewal of a second year. Each graduate assistant will receive a full tuition waiver and an annual stipend of $9,000, paid monthly. These positions will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date for the positions will be August 1, with the potential for a mutually-agreed upon earlier start date and summer employment.

The coaching graduate assistants will also serve as an instructor for one activity class for the Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Management department (HKSM). To be eligible, students must be admitted to the in-person Master of Sport Management Program (MSSM) at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Appointments are contingent upon maintenance of minimum credit requirements and good standing in the MSSM program.

Parkside Athletics and HKSM have collaborated on the graduate assistant program for four years, fostering success for the athletics department, sport management program, and, most importantly, the graduate students. Alumni of the program have gone on to successful careers in college athletics and in club/youth and professional sports, including North Dakota State, Indiana State, Colorado College, Stephen F. Austin, UW-Parkside, University of Illinois-Chicago, and Quincy.
