Position Title: Graduate Assistant (External Relations Graduate Assistant)

Employment Type: Part Time, Academic Staff, Salaried

Reports To: The External Relations GA will report to the Asst. AD for Advancement & Partnerships.

 

The external relations graduate assistant will work in conjunction with the Assistant AD/Advancement and Partnerships and the strategic communications and marketing team, with duties including but not limited to assisting with:


Essential Job Functions
  • Parkside Athletics Partners Program
    • Solicit new business and community partners to become members of the corporate partners program.
    • Assist with the renewal process of existing partners.
    • Create and track existing and new inventory.
    • Create and deliver agreements and invoices to potential and current partners.
    • Ensure fulfillment of all agreements, in collaboration with strategic communications facilities/event operations, and marketing.
  • Ticketing/Fan Experience
    • Create and execute ticket plans and promotions for applicable sports, including individual games, season tickets, and group ticket sales.
    • Operation of ticketing software.
    • Provide sales, execution, and customer service for group tickets.
    • Assist with the selling and operations of premium seating.
    • Interact and cultivate relationships with current and prospective Rangers fans.
    • Implement stewardship pieces for season ticket holders and group ticket customers.
    • Provide consistent communication to companies within the partners program.
  • Advancement/Revenue Generation
    • Assist with the planning and implementation of the Ranger Impact Fund annual campaign.
    • Execute and create donor engagement and revenue generating initiatives for Parkside Day.
    • Fulfill stewardship initiatives for alumni and donors.
    • Serve on the planning committee for the annual Ranger Impact Open and other fundraising events.
    • Assist with the planning and execution of alumni/donor events.
    • Cultivate and sustain diversifying revenue streams in support of Parkside Athletics.
  • Marketing and Promotions
    • Manage marketing plans and promotional calendars.
    • Assist with the fulfillment of in game promotions and marketing initiatives.
  • Graphic Design
    • Utilize Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and other softwares to create marketing content tied to partnerships, fundraising, and other external facing initiatives.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

The ideal candidate will have experience working with Adobe Suite, in addition to sales and marketing experience.

The successful candidates will work a 12-month appointment for the 2023-24 academic year with the opportunity for renewal of a second year. Each graduate assistant will receive a full tuition waiver and an annual stipend of $9,000, paid monthly. These positions will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date for the positions will be August 1, with the potential for a mutually-agreed upon earlier start date and summer employment.

The coaching graduate assistants will also serve as an instructor for one activity class for the Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Management department (HKSM). To be eligible, students must be admitted to the in-person Master of Sport Management Program (MSSM) at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Appointments are contingent upon maintenance of minimum credit requirements and good standing in the MSSM program.

Parkside Athletics and HKSM have collaborated on the graduate assistant program for four years, fostering success for the athletics department, sport management program, and, most importantly, the graduate students. Alumni of the program have gone on to successful careers in college athletics and in club/youth and professional sports, including North Dakota State, Indiana State, Colorado College, Stephen F. Austin, UW-Parkside, University of Illinois-Chicago, and Quincy.
