Position Title: External Relations Graduate Assistant

Employment Type: Part-time, Academic Staff, Exempt

Reports To: Assistant AD/Advancement & Partnerships, and Athletics Ticketing and Marketing Coordinator.

The successful candidates will work a 10-month appointment for the 2022-23 academic year with the opportunity for renewal of a second year. Each graduate assistant will receive a full tuition waiver and an annual stipend of $7,500, paid monthly. These positions will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date for the positions will be August 1, with the potential for a mutually-agreed upon earlier start date and summer employment.

The coaching graduate assistants will also serve as an instructor for one activity class for the Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Management department (HKSM). To be eligible, students must be admitted to the in-person Master of Sport Management Program (MSSM) at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Appointments are contingent upon maintenance of minimum credit requirements and good standing in the MSSM program.

Parkside Athletics and HKSM have collaborated on the graduate assistant program for four years, fostering success for the athletics department, sport management program, and, most importantly, the graduate students. Alumni of the program have gone onto successful careers in college athletics and in club/youth and professional sports, including North Dakota State, Indiana State, Colorado College, Stephen F. Austin, UW-Parkside, University of Illinois-Chicago, and Quincy.


Essential Job Functions

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for the position of External Relations Graduate Assistant. To be eligible, prospective candidates must be accepted into one of the Master’s Degree programs at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The External Relations Graduate Assistant will report directly to the Assistant AD/Advancement and Partnerships and the Athletics Ticketing and Marketing Coordinator, and will gain experience assisting with all aspects of a NCAA Division II athletic department.

Key Job Responsibilities

The external relations graduate assistants will work in conjunction with the Assistant AD/Advancement and Partnerships and the Athletics Ticketing and Marketing Coordinator, with duties including but not limited to assisting with:

•Parkside Athletics Partners Program

+Solicit new business and community partners to become members of the corporate partners program.

+Assist with the renewal of existing partners.

+Create and track existing and new inventory.

+Create and deliver contracts and invoices to potential and current partners.

+Ensure fulfillment of all contracts, in collaboration with strategic communications and marketing.

+Provide consistent communication to corporate partners.

•Advancement

+Ranger Impact Fund

+Parkside Day

+Ranger Impact Open and other fundraising events

+Alumni/donor engagement

•Marketing and Promotions

+Marketing plans and promotional calendars

+In-game promotions, game script, music, etc.

+Ranger Cub Club

•Ticketing

+Create and execute ticket plans and promotions for applicable sports, including individual games, season tickets, and group ticket sales.

+Provide sales, execution, and customer service for group tickets.

+Assist with the selling and operations of premium seating.

•Graphic Design

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Candidates must possess excellent written and verbal skills  
  • The ability to exhibit professionalism and maintain confidentiality 
  • Candidate must possess strong customer service, and problem solving skills 
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment  
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite  
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is preferred
