Position Title: Groundskeeper
Employment Type: Full time, University Staff, Non-exempt
Reports To: The Facilities Manager
Pay Range: $31,200 - $41,600
The groundskeeper maintains and landscapes campus lawns, planting beds, wooded areas, trees and fields. They inspect the grounds to ensure conditions meet institutional grounds keeping standards.
The Facilities Management Department is a key part of the University that ensures the campus roads are clean, that utilities like water and electricity are operating effectively and efficiently, and that our campus is clean and beautiful. The work environment for this position is predominantly indoors. Exposure to dust, odors, moving mechanical parts and noise is common.
Essential Job Functions
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Installs, propagates, and maintains the health of new and existing plants and landscape using a variety of vehicles and equipment
- Constructs lawn and landscaping projects including soil grading, seeding, and sodding
- Identifies and acts to remedy plant diseases and insect damage
- Implements and monitors chemical and fertilizer programs
- Maintains clean and clear lawns, walkways, roadways, and parking lots to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
Qualifications
Key Qualifications:
- Education – H.S. Diploma Preferred
- Demonstrated experience with the use of lawn and landscape equipment
- Demonstrated experience with the use of snow removal equipment
Salary and Benefits
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
