Position Title:  Network Engineer I

Employment Type: Full Time, Academic Staff, Salaried

Reports To: The Network Engineer I will report to Deputy CIO

Pay Range: $51,700.00 – $60,000.00 annualized

Assists with routine system planning, installation, analysis, and issue resolution to support institutional network connectivity and performance.


Essential Job Functions
  • Assists with planning, modeling, installing, and testing of basic networks under direct supervision
  • Develops and implements network management and monitoring tools
  • Identifies, analyzes, and troubleshoots routine network connectivity and performance issues according to established procedures, best practices, and regulations
  • Monitors network activity and performance and communicates relevant information to appropriate entities
  • Facilitates connectivity for wired and wireless devices, installing hardware and software
  • Develops training materials and provides training for clients and staff
  • Recommends documentation and procedure changes for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support the needs and effort from the institution's compliance officer with respect to campus, state, and federal information security policies and regulations such as FERPA, HIPAA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, DMCA, Wisconsin Statutes, Cyber Security Policy, USA Patriot Act, PCI, and other relevant policies and regulations
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Networking or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in networking or related field.
Salary and Benefits

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
