Position Title: Academic Advisor: Success Coach
Employment Type: Full time, exempt, Non-Instructional Academic Staff. This is a two-year grant funded position with an end date of September 30, 2026
Reports To: Kim White, Director of Academic Support & Success Coaching
Pay Range: $45,000 - $52,000  

The Success Coaching program will operate under the umbrella of the Parkside Academic Resource Center (PARC) which also provides academic tutoring, writing assistance, supplemental instruction, and peer support. The Executive Director of Advising & Academic Support oversees the Advising & Career Center, PARC, and Student Support Services (TRiO). The staff in these departments work collaboratively to promote academic achievement while students are in school as well as career preparation for post-graduation success. The Success Coach will also work closely with colleagues in Admissions, New Student Services & First Year Programs, Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, Dean of Students Office, and the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.

*PARC is looking to fill 2 Academic Advisor Positions. 


Essential Job Functions
The Success Coach will provide transitional support for first-year and transfer students from admissions through their first year of enrollment. The Success Coaching program is a part of the University-wide student development initiative focused on increasing matriculation, retention, and graduation rates. The Success Coach will provide one-on-one and group support sessions aimed at building a sense of belonging, developing resiliency, and providing connections to campus and community resources for students in order to promote persistence and academic success leading to graduation.


Key Job Responsibilities:
1. Connect with all assigned students within specified timeframes to introduce the success coaching process and establish a proactive and supportive wrap around relationship.
2. Provide support and service for students maintaining minimum touch points per semester via multiple means of communication.
3. Participate in New Student Orientations, Parkside Preview Days, and other campus events.
4. Record data on student interactions using appropriate technology such as Navigate. 
5. Maintain up-to-date information on campus and local community resources available to assist students with academic, financial, and personal issues. 
6. Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education (Master’s preferred)
2. At least 1-3 years of experience in counseling, advising, coaching, or similar role (Higher education setting preferred; can include graduate work)

Salary and Benefits

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
