Science Night: Perception creates our world
Don't Believe Everything You Think
Presented by: Melissa Gregg, Ph.D., Assistant Professor
UW-Parkside Psychology Department
Wednesday, May 14, 2014
7:00-8:00 p.m.
Student Center Cinema
Dr. Gregg will demonstrate that our perception of the world is not reflective of the actual physical properties of the world. She will explain how we use our senses and prior experience to construct an interpretation of the world. The question of whether psychologists can read minds will be addressed from the perspective of recent research in cognitive neuroscience.
Melissa Gregg teaches introductory psychology, as well as research methods and cognitive neuroscience for the department. She also directs the Auditory Perception and Cognition Lab at UW-Parkside.
This event is open to the public, parking is free after 6:30 p.m., and light refreshments will be served.
