ALL IN Challenge
SOMERS – According to Dr. Peggy James, dean of the College of Social Sciences and Professional Studies, a strength of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside is its institutional commitment to citizenship and engagement. UW-Parkside was one of almost 600 institutions of higher education participating in the “ALL IN Challenge” organized by the Campus Democracy Challenge. UW-Parkside earned a Bronze Seal for a 56.7 percent voter participation rate during the 2016 presidential election, and was the only public university in Wisconsin to be honored.
Gold seal - 70-79 percent, one campus
Silver seal - 60-69 percent, 38 campuses
Bronze seal - 50-59 percent, 79 campuses
UW-Parkside is in the top 20 percent of participating campuses and is among the likes of the University of Chicago, Harvard, Middlebury College, and more.
“Every four years the Politics Philosophy and Law Department coordinates a semester long focus on the presidential election,” James said. “This is a winning combination, as you can see from the All-In results.”
