Wisconsin U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin held a roundtable discussion Oct. 15 at UW-Parkside with students from Parkside, Carthage College, Gateway Technical College, and UW-Whitewater. The senator is a strong supporter of federal financial aid programs such as the Perkins Loan program that expired Sept. 30. Sen. Baldwin, who is a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, introduced a bipartisan resolution expressing support for the continuation of the Perkins Loan program. She then took action by bringing up the legislation under unanimous consent only to have one senator object to her efforts.
