Bear Paws for a Cause 4K 2018

Published: April 23, 2018

UW-Parkside is bringing back the “Bear Paws for a Cause 4K” which originally ran from 2009-2013. For the first time ever, participants will be permitted to bring their dogs to join in on all of the 4K fun. Everyone is invited and welcome to attend and participate. Proceeds will go to HESM scholarship funds and the Wisconsin Humane Society.

The event is set for Sunday, April 29. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. and the actual event begins at 9 a.m. It will be held at the Sports & Activity Center, 4130 Petrifying Springs Rd, Kenosha, WI 53144. This event will also feature giveaways including water bottles, sports packs, and more.

This run/walk is being organized by the students from the Event Management class (HESM 370) at UW-Parkside, and part of the proceeds will go to the Health, Exercise Science & Sport Management scholarship funds. The other cause for this year's event is the Wisconsin Humane Society, supporting the WHS-Racine Campus.

Because of the weather and ash tree removal, the route will not be on the UW-Parkside Cross Country Course, but will be more of a road course on campus, starting and finishing at the Sports & Activity Center (4130 Petrifying Springs Road).

The sponsors and donors for this event are Racine Danish Kringles, Best Buy, Sam’s Club, and Festival Foods.
