Thursday, Aug. 21, the UW System Board of Regents unanimously approved a request for an additional $95.2 million of state support in the 2015-2017 biennial budget. During his address to the Board of Regents, UW System President Ray Cross clearly defined his vision for the future of the UW System:

"I believe the UW System needs to boldly proclaim that from this day forward, our priority will be to develop the TALENT and IDEAS that raise Wisconsin's prosperity and serve the world."

UW-Parkside is well positioned – through the expertise of our students, alumni, faculty and staff, and robust community partnerships – to play a vital role in bringing the vision of President Cross to southeastern Wisconsin.

In his remarks, President Cross described how the biennial budget request will strengthen the entire UW System, and that means enhancing opportunities for individual campuses like UW-Parkside. He and his team met with representatives from the governor's staff and legislative leaders to ensure close alignment of state goals with planned UW System initiatives.

UW-Parkside Chancellor Debbie Ford said it is important for the university's community of stakeholders and elected officials to share in the enthusiastic support for the budget request. "As we move toward approval from the state Legislature and inclusion in the 2015-2017 state budget," Ford said, "we must continue to tell the important story of what UW-Parkside and the UW System mean to the betterment of our region, our state, and the world."
