FRESH INC FESTIVAL BEGINS MONDAY, JUNE 9

The fresh inc festival is a one-of-a-kind chamber music festival that redefines the training process for emerging musicians. Under the guidance of Fifth House Ensemble (5HE), emerging composers and instrumentalists spend two weeks creating performance experiences for audiences of all types, covering repertoire both canonic and newly inked.

Now in its third year, 5HE's ground-breaking fresh inc festival at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside will immerse participants in a professional and inspiring environment through two weeks of training in arts entrepreneurship and creative presentation techniques; rehearsals in mixed ensembles including members of 5HE and participants; performances across Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee, and Chicago; and individual instruction with faculty members on site at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Each year, participating composers write a new work for mixed ensembles including 5HE faculty and participating instrumentalists, and the festival concludes with 2 performances celebrating festival's culmination and the premieres of the works written by festival composers.

There is no charge for admission Sunday, June 22. Tickets for the Saturday performance at Constellation Chicago, 3111 North Western Ave., are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

The Sunday performance features eight world premiere performances of festival works, including Stacy Garrop's Jubilation piano trio, performed by faculty members Andrew Williams, Una O'Riordan, and Jani Parsons.
