SOFT FOCUS: Work By Nathaniel Russell

Nathaniel RussellKenosha, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Foundation Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition featuring the works of Nathaniel Russell. The exhibition will run from Sept. 10 to Nov. 4, showcasing a deeply personal collection of work from the last five years that explores themes of transcendence, our inner worlds, and our place and purpose on earth.

SOFT FOCUS presents Russell's multidisciplinary approach through paintings, prints, and sculptures that demonstrate his mastery of drawing, printmaking, and design. The exhibition reveals Russell's fascination with the power of drawing to capture the energy and spirit of a person, creating what he describes as "a direct line to the soul and what it means to be human."

Through various mediums, Russell explores the full spectrum of human emotions—loss, joy, grief, and the wondrous yet sometimes terrifying nature of being alive. His work pushes the boundaries between drawing, printmaking, painting, and sculpture, creating moments of endless discovery that invite viewers into reflection and connection.

Artist Talk & Reception

Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with Russell at the Reception on Sept. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Foundation Gallery, followed by an Artist Talk the next day, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. in Bedford Hall at the RITA.
