Gateway Commencement May 13

Published: May 7, 2014
Due to the change last year in the UW-Parkside academic calendar, the Gateway Technical College graduation and commencement ceremonies take place during finals week at UW-Parkside.
The Gateway high school graduation ceremony is at 4 p.m. and the college commencement ceremony is at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, in the Sports & Activity Center.

UW-Parkside final exams that would have been in the Sports & Activity Center that afternoon and evening have been relocated. Students will be notified of new locations by their instructors.

Gateway graduation and commencement attendees will be parking in lots D and E near the Sports & Activity Center, and lots B and C west of the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities. The graduation and commencement ceremonies take place in the De Simone Gymnasium. Each ceremony is followed by a reception in Main Place of Wyllie Hall at 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Those attending the graduation ceremony will begin arriving about 3 p.m. Those attending the commencement ceremony will begin arriving about 6 p.m. UW-Parkside Police and Public Safety Chief Jim Heller says the busiest time will be approximately 6 p.m. when graduation attendees are departing and commencement attendees are arriving.

"There will be more traffic than usual and parking will be very limited," Heller said. "We are asking UW-Parkside students, faculty and staff to plan ahead. Use lot A near the Student Center, be patient, and welcome our guests from Gateway."
