16th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Concert

Students, faculty, and the public gathered today in Bedford Hall to celebrate the life and career of Dr. Martin Luther Kind Jr. in the 16th annual celebration concert. The celebration started with Junior, Brittney Woods, reading Black Child, which she composed. Following, was Voices of Parkside, who performed two songs conducted by student LaShel Newkirk. Then the UW-Parkside Jazz Combo took stage, starting with (Yours for the Cause) of Peace and Brotherhood, by student composer Ryan Thompson. Closing the concert was a three-movement piece by student composer, Curtis Crump Jr., Catalysts from the King, for Dr. King.

This afternoon our own Bedford Hall was filled with the sounds of joy and celebration remember a great leader. Check out The Rita for more real amazing performances from students and guest artists.
