Director of Student Support Services Chris Zanowski and Student Support Services Advisor Alfredo Sandoval-Flores presented at the 25th annual National Teaching Academic Survival and Success (TASS) Conference in Fort Lauderdale. The TASS conference highlighted "access to quality higher education with the skills and resources needed to succeed in college: the most important things that we can provide our students—and our society."

Presenters at the conference, using a workshop approach, describe methods they have used to help students succeed in various academic areas such as reading, study skills, writing, mathematics and science, technology, freshman success and other transitional experiences, multiculturalism, student support services, academic advising, career planning, program administration, special needs, as well as preparing high school students for college.

Zanowski and Sandoval-Flores presented on "Career Exploration in the First-Year" to explain their experiences with a second semester Career Exploration Course in the student's first-year experience, including a Career Coach component with upper-class students working as facilitators to engage teams of students in the career development process.
