11th Annual Nonprofit Breakfast, May 2nd at Kenosha Country Club

Published: April 23, 2014

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside's Center for Community Partnerships (CCP), in partnership with Gateway Technical College, hosts the 11th Annual Nonprofit breakfast on May 2, 2014, at the Kenosha Country Club. CCP staff will present the 2014 Nonprofit Leadership Excellence Award to Family Service of Racine, along with recognizing three finalists. This event is a celebration of local nonprofits as well as an opportunity for professors from UW-Parkside and Gateway Technical College and nonprofit leaders to network and discuss future projects. In addition, there will be short presentation by UW-Parkside professor Dr. Abey Kuruvilla, Gateway instructor Kate Jerome, and ECLA Outreach Center Executive Director Karl Erickson about their experiences with community-based learning, and the mutual benefits these projects offer all sectors in the community.

The Nonprofit Leadership Excellence Award, a $2,000 award sponsored by the Kenosha Community Foundation and the Racine Community Foundation, is an opportunity to recognize a nonprofit organization whose leadership has made critical decisions that have built significant organizational capacity and/or led them on the path to sustainability. Awards such as this one can encourage a growing number of nonprofits to pursue excellence in leadership and to contribute to the field's growing legacy of success.

The Nonprofit Breakfast is a free event thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, Wegner CPAs and Educators Credit Union. Connections made by professors and nonprofit leaders at this event result in future community-based learning projects that help to build capacity in local nonprofit organizations.

Anyone interested in attending the Nonprofit Breakfast can register at www.uwp.edu/ccp.
