Parkside Today: Help Wanted
Racine County Eye started a podcast called "Help Wanted," to help people navigate the labor market and find a career that fits. In this episode of Help Wanted, Denise Lockwood from Racine County Eye talks with Kate Walker, the Talent and Recruitment Specialist at the Racine County Economic Development Corporation (RCEDC), about where the jobs are and how this public-private partnership is helping to ease the burden for businesses looking to scale up. RCEDC is the county's lead economic development agency.
People can learn more about the labor shortage on WisConomy, which identifies 50 hot jobs in Wisconsin. But knowing what jobs are experiencing shortages isn’t enough. People need to connect to the education and skills training around those jobs.
In our episode, she mentioned several programs designed to help people become more employable.
5 resources that can help you skill up:
- WRTP Big Step
- First-Choice pre-apprenticeship program
- Uplift 900
- Racine Vocational Ministries
- Higher Expectations
