UW-Parkside continues to shower the community with creativity

When Parkside started construction on the new fine arts building, known as The Rita, faculty members wanted to find a way to include the community in the process. The idea was to fill the new building with artwork from different community organizations to promote the principles of unity and support. So with that in mind, 100 umbrellas were purchased and distributed to different clubs and businesses around the area. Each group decorated their umbrella however they desired and then the artwork was hung from ceilings around the school.

Today, many of these umbrellas can still be seen in the Wyllie Hall Main Place to remind students of the bond we have with our community and the lasting impression they have made on our school.
