UW-Parkside to Host Star Wars Extravaganza

Any Star Wars fans out there? Of course there are! Even if you’re not, you’ll still want to attend these spectacular events going on at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside!

Star Wars: Nostalgia Awakens

You’ve got plenty of time, so come view these amazing Star Wars collectibles in the Mathis Gallery from Nov. 18-Dec. 20. The opening reception will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, from 6-7 p.m.

Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens

Come out for this free public viewing of Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. in the UW-Parkside Student Center Cinema. After the viewing, there will be a panel discussion – “Force of Star Wars: Communication Perspectives.”

Ken Liu

Join Ken Liu, American science-fiction and fantasy writer and translator of science fiction and literary stories from Chinese to English for the discussion of his novel “The Legends of Luke Skywalker.” The event takes place on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from noon to 1 p.m. in RITA 131.

Fan Fiction Award Ceremony

The grand finale of the events will be topped off with announcing the winners of the Star Wars Fan Fiction Contest. The contest is open to Wisconsin and surrounding area high school students. Each submission must be between 2,000-5,000 words, and may include original characters, but must contain either a copyrighted character or be set in the Star Wars universe.
