World Fest Week | UW-Parkside
Parkside International Club will host the annual World Fest Week on campus from March 4 to March 8, featuring a line-up of unique and exciting events! Come down to UW-Parkside to expand your worldview and learn other cultures.
On Monday, March 4, come to Wyllie Main Place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Flag Pride! During this event, international students who attend UW-Parkside will carry their country's flag and introduce themselves.
On Tuesday, March 5, you can find the World Bazaar in Wyllie Main Place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Local and student vendors will be present at the this Parkside attraction. There are also displays about the various countries represented on campus!
The community is invited to the Student Center Cinema on Wednesday, March 6 at 6 p.m. for a screening of The Judge. The Judge is an award-winning documentary about Judge Khloud Al-Faqih, the first woman shari'a court judge in Palestine and the Middle East. A Q&A session with History Professor Elizabeth Brownson will follow after the movie. This is a free screening and is open to the public.
On Thursday, March 7, there will be a student presentation about Cuba in the Poplar Room at 11 a.m., followed later by a presentation from Eric Nyberg at 5 p.m. Some lucky UW-Parkside students enjoyed spending a week in Cuba as part of a Cuby Study Tour held over the Winterim period, led by Dr. Simon Akindes, Professor in the Department of Politics, Philosophy, and Law at UW-Parkside. If you want to hear all about the incredible culture, art, and history of Cuba, come to these presentations!
At the end of the week, on Friday, March 8, the World Cuisine Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. in the University Ballroom. The dinner will include a fashion show, dance performances, music, and food from different countries. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased online here.
