SOMERS - The new online University of Wisconsin Flexible Option bachelor of science in business administration degree is innovative and accessible. Add to that, affordable. GreatBusinessSchools.org (GBS) named the breakthrough program among the top three most affordable business degree programs in the U.S.

Dr. Suresh Chalasani, professor of business at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, the UW institution that hosts the program, calls the UW Flexible Option “transformative.”

“Before the Flexible Option, business students – especially working professionals – had to find a way to fit their schedules to the class time,” Chalasani said. “The UW Flexible Option allows students to work at their own pace... This is truly a transformative educational opportunity.”

The UW Flexible Option provides a high-quality, reasonably priced, alternative to more traditional classroom and online formats. Self-paced UW Flexible Option programs allow busy adult learners to start their studies in any month and work at their own pace, online, when and where their schedules allow. The University of Wisconsin offers nine UW Flexible Option degrees and certificates.

“Students earn credit by passing assessments,” said UW-Parkside Provost Dr. Rob Ducoffe. “They’re able to draw upon knowledge acquired through prior course work, military training, or career experience to pass assessments more quickly.”

The GBS website describes an affordable, online business degree as a game-changer for working adults. The UW Flexible Option business administration degree is the only degree of its kind in an AACSB-accredited business school, assuring students of its high quality.

“Less than 5 percent of business programs worldwide have earned the prestigious AACSB accreditation,” said Dr. Dirk Baldwin, dean of the UW-Parkside College of Business, Economics, and Computing.

To help students earn their degree faster, UW-Parkside faculty have intentionally designed an integrated curriculum to eliminate unnecessary redundancies that may be found in other programs. Students also have the opportunity to work closely with faculty and academic success coaches. “In the ever-changing world of business, UW-Parkside faculty keep pace with industry trends through research, working with local businesses, and consulting," Baldwin said.
