Verifying Academic Credit Transfer
Students attending another university must obtain approval for the transfer of each course by the corresponding academic department. To obtain course approval, go to the "Current Student Forms" webpage and under REGISTRAR, click "Advanced Approval for Proposed Transfer Credit". You will be asked to upload course descriptions/syllabi.
Study Abroad Courses taught by Parkside Professors do not require credit transfer.

Two Applications!
Programs offered through partner organizations (including NSE) usually require 2 applications. The Parkside Via TRM application ensures that you have Parkside’s permission to participate in study abroad/study away. A second application is required by the specific program chosen. Study abroad/study away partners require their own forms (with their own deadlines) to help arrange coursework, housing and other services.

Placeholders to Remain a Ranger
It is imperative that you remain registered here at Parkside while you are participating in a program hosted by another university. You will do this by registering for a “Study Away Placeholder Course”. This placeholder helps UWP departments (like Advising, Financial aid, Cashiers office) see that you are still a Parkside student, even when you are not enrolled in Parkside courses. Once you return, the Placeholder will be replaced by the courses you take abroad. See the Study Abroad Office for information on the correct Study Abroad Placeholder course.

Financial Aid
If you are expecting to access financial aid resources, you must connect with the Financial Aid Office to discuss their requirements for fund disbursal. Email finaid@uwp.edu for a Study Abroad and Study Away appointments.

Student Visas
Some countries require that students have a study visa before they are allowed entry. Visa requirements differ from country to country and may require an inperson appointment at the country’s consulate (usually Chicago) to obtain the visa stamp. Please give yourself plenty of time to obtain a passport and visa.

Study Abroad and Study Away Orientation
Plan to attend the mandatory study abroad (or) study away orientation to gain important health, safety, academic and cultural information related to your place of study.
