While Abroad
ATTEND ORIENTATION
- Learn about the program, university and confirm your classes
- If your class schedule changes, obtain course credit transfer approval for new courses through the “Advanced Approval for Proposed Transfer Credit" process (Registrar Forms).
- Students completing a semester or academic year program should be enrolled in a full-load of courses. (Minimum 12 U.S. credits for semester).
CHECK ACCOMODATIONS
- Inspect your housing situation for damages/issues upon arrival
- Know who to contact if you have any trouble (i.e. plumbing, electric outage, etc.) and how to exit your home in the case of a fire or emergency
REGISTER WITH LOCAL AUTHORITIES
- You should have registered with the US State Department Smart Traveler Enrollment Program prior to departure, but if you have not, now is the time to do so!
- Familiarize yourself with where the local U.S. Embassy is located
RESEARCH LOCAL HEALTH RESOURCES
- Work with your program director to access appropriate health local resources
- Log in to your CISI health insurance to identify local health resources and process claims.
BEFORE RETURNING HOME
- Pass your classes! Failed courses will be transferred back to Parkside.
- If applicable, make sure that you are registered for the next Semester
- Ensure that transcripts are mailed back to Parkside
