Communication Department Associate Professor Theresa Castor had her paper "Metacommunication in Hurricane Katrina Teleconferences: 'Reporting' in the Construction of Problems," co-authored with Dr. Mariaelena Bartesaghi of the University of South Florida, accepted for presentation at the International Communication Association Conference in Seattle. The paper examines the use of metacommunication specifically in the form of 'reporting' and how the use of 'reports' during the teleconference functioned as both an enabling and constraining device in shaping how problems were discussed. This paper was ranked among the top four papers submitted to the ICA Organizational Communication division.
