SHRMSomers, Wis.- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Professional and Continuing Education office, in partnership with The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest HR membership program, will offer two courses for professionals in the Fall 2022 semester.

UW-Parkside’s SHRM Essentials of Human Resources course is now open for registration and will take place in person on November 3-4, 2022, from 8 am to 5 pm. The SHRM Certification Exam Prep course runs from Sept. 8 – Nov. 17 and meets bi-weekly from 6-9 p.m. Registration is also now open, and the course has both virtual and in-person options.

Led by UW-Parkside's Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources, Sheronda Glass, Ph.D., a human resources executive with 25+ years of HR experience having worked in a variety of industries, including healthcare, consumer products/manufacturing, and most recently, K-12 education, professionals can advance their HR skills with either the SHRM Certification Exam Prep course or the SHRM Essentials of Human Resources course.

If you have been thinking about jumpstarting your HR career, it’s time to make your move. UW-Parkside Professional and Continuing Education’s SHRM Certification Exam Prep course, which boasts a 100% pass rate for SHRM-CP participants testing from Dec 1, 2021 – February 15, 2022, is now open for registration for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 sessions with both virtual and in-person options.

92% of HR executives agree that it will be important for HR professionals to be SHRM-certified in the future, and 71% of HR executives agree that SHRM certification increases the likelihood of obtaining a promotion in HR. So don’t wait, the SHRM Certified Professional® (SHRM-CP®) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional® (SHRM-SCP®) can help you build the confidence to address today’s HR challenges.

Managers and supervisors tend to take on responsibilities outside their skill set and HR is often one of these. Managers and supervisors end up performing basic HR duties that include all aspects of human resource work and require a range of knowledge that the SHRM Essentials of Human Resources course provides, from absenteeism to hiring to supporting their ongoing development.

Although supervisors and managers do their best, they may unknowingly violate basic HR law and leave your company in a compromising position that could eat up your hard-earned profits. They need to know where their HR role begins and ends and the consequences of their HR decisions.

Prepare them with the knowledge and skills they need to maintain a positive relationship with their staff as well as avoid HR missteps that can end up in costly litigation with UW-Parkside’s SHRM Essentials of Human Resources course. Participants will develop a critical skill path for employees responsible for HR and will meet your company’s future skills and needs.
