AI-Enhanced Teaching Certificate
Participants of the Teaching in the Era of AI workshop series have the option to earn the AI-Enhanced Teaching Certificate.
The AI-Enhanced Teaching Certificate can be earned by completing one of the following tracks:
- Synchronous Workshop: Attend at least 6 of 8 synchronous workshop sessions (In person or online)
- Book Club: Attend at least 5 of 6 book club sessions (In person or online)
Participants are welcome to attend as many sessions and session types as they would like, but to earn the AI-Enhanced Teaching Certificate, participants will have to select a specific track to complete. Each certificate track will require the completion of 3 assignments by June 1st, 2025 in addition to the required workshop session attendance.
AI-Enhanced Teaching Certificate Requirements
Participants can learn more about each certificate track in the sections below.
AI-Enhanced Teaching Certificate - Plus Stipend
CEITL will offer two versions of an AI-Enhanced Teaching Certificate program, one that requires minimal deliverables and results in a certificate and another that requires additional deliverables and results in a certificate, stipend of $1250, and AI-Enhanced designation for the course to be included in a new undergraduate AI-Enhanced micro-credential program.
To earn the certificate only, program participants must submit the following deliverables:
- Syllabus policy for the use of AI in their course
- AI-generated rubric for use in class
- An assignment that integrates the use of AI
To earn the certificate, AI-Enhanced course designation, and stipend, participants must complete the first three deliverables along with these additional requirements:
- Incorporation of at least two course learning outcomes connected to the use of generative AI and how it may be applied in the course, discipline, potential career field(s), and/or as part of life-long learning, to be added to the course syllabus (see appendix for sample outcomes)
- One large or several small assignments that integrate the use of generative AI. The AI-integrated assignment(s) should comprise at least 20% of the student’s submitted work for the course. This requirement functionally replaces item 3 above and requires far more engagement with AI in course assignments than those seeking the certificate only.
Participants who wish to earn the stipend and AI-Enhanced course designation must submit all of their deliverables via Canvas by no later than April 15, 2025 to give CEITL staff enough time to review their materials and issue the stipends before the end of the fiscal year. Participants who wish to earn the certificate only must submit the first three deliverables via Canvas by no later than June 1, 2025 as originally advertised.
Synchronous Workshop
The synchronous sessions, while aligned with the book Teaching with AI, are designed to stand alone and introduce participants to a number of topics, starting with an introduction to artificial intelligence and building into ways AI can be used to enhance teaching and learning.
Participants can choose to come to as many sessions as they please, but can also choose the synchronous workshop as the method in which they'd like to complete the AI-Enhanced Teaching Certificate. To earn the AI-Enhanced Teaching Certificate, participants who choose the synchronous workshop as their certificate track must attend 6 of the 8 workshop sessions and complete 3 assignments by either April 15th, 2025 June 1st, 2025 depending on theier certificate track. These sessions will be held in a hybrid format so participants can attend online or in-person.

Frequently Asked Questions
Please email ceitl@uwp.edu with any additional questions you may have about the AI-Enhanced Teaching Certificate process, workshop schedule, etc.
I can't attend all of the required sessions, what should I do?
You can replace a missed session by completing one of the following options (maximum of 2 make-up sessions per person):
- Attend a free, online AI-related course from our pre-approved list and submit a 200-word summary of what you learned. See a course you’d like to try that isn’t on the list? Submit it to us for pre-approval!
- Miss a book club session? Submit 400 words that include a summary of the chapters from your missed session and a reflection or questions about how you might apply what you learned. This should be submitted before the date of your next book club meeting.
Can I choose to complete multiple certificate tracks?
Participants can choose to join the book club and the synchronous workshop sessions as they please! However, only one certificate track is needed to earn the certificate. Participants can attend both types of sessions, but should still register for one specific certificate track for the purpose of record keeping!
