John M. Werwie, DDS '72

John Werwie is a career dentist, managing partner, owner and founder of a large Wisconsin-based oral healthcare delivery network model, ForwardDental, with national affiliation with oral healthcare models in twenty states.

He graduated from UW-Parkside in 1972, focusing on pre-health education and majoring in Chemistry. After graduating he went on to receive a doctorate degree from Marquette School of Dentistry in 1976, followed by a two-year hospital-based general dentistry residency in NYC, NY.

Dr. Werwie’s commitment to pursuing excellence resulted in a certificate in leadership, parenteral (IV) sedation, implant dentistry, reconstructive oral rehabilitation and oral pain management, helping patients improve from their burden of oral disease.

His leadership and clinical skills helped mentor, guide, and teach dentists to become the professional that they are capable of being, helping them build their courage and will to advance their professional career pathway for success in the workplace and in life. He has been recognized as a Doctor Leader of the Year, the Doctor Spirit Award of the year and has been an active leader and participant in developing the very first Caries Risk Assessment Registry in dentistry in 2017.

When he isn’t influencing and impacting change from the traditional dental practice model to the emerging oral healthcare delivery model, he spends time building award quality historical WWII models and dioramas, enjoying his grandchildren and family and preparing for his next life’s chapter – retirement.
