Stephanie Sklba '90
Stephanie was born and raised in Racine and attended Park High School. She graduated from UW-Parkside with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and holds a Master of Arts in Business Communication: Leadership and Influence. Stephanie is currently the Vice President for Community and Government Relations at Gateway Technical College where she has been employed for almost 20 years. In this position she is responsible for a variety of areas including the Gateway Technical College foundation, WGTD radio station, community engagement, public relations/marketing, government relations, sustainability and developing the “Gateway Experience” on the campuses.
Stephanie and her husband, Chris, own Art Metals Studio in downtown Racine and have been downtown business owners for the past 15 years.
She was always active with her two daughters, Jessica and Lauren, in both church and school but began her community involvement after she graduated from Leadership Racine in 2001. After that she became engaged in both the Racine and Kenosha communities. Stephanie has served on a number of boards including Family Services of Racine, Root-Pike WIN, Sustainable Edible Economic Development (SEED) and the Fight to End Exploitation (FEE). She currently serves on the Racine United Way Board, the Kenosha Boys and Girls Club Board and the Racine County Food Bank Board. Stephanie graduated from the Wisconsin Leadership Development Institute in 2015, a leadership development program for the Wisconsin Technical College System.
There are many additional activities that Stephanie is involved in such as being on the board for Empty Bowls of Racine and on the organizing committee for “Cookies for a Cause”. She remains active in her church working with the youth and on community outreach events.
