Tell us about you and your experience at Parkside.  

I’ve been a music major at UWP since 2021! I’ve always loved music and haven’t truly seen myself doing anything else. I have always wanted to make as much music as I can, and help other people make music as well. I chose Parkside not only because of the affordability, but for a specific faculty member: Professor Alvaro Garcia, who has since been pivotal in my growth as a creative.

What impact has your scholarship had on you?

Had I never gotten a scholarship, I would’ve never have been able to attend university in the first place. A scholarship for me has been more than just some extra help, it’s been completely life-changing by unlocking the possibility of higher education to me.

What is a specific goal that felt "out of reach" last year but feels achievable today because of the scholarship you received?

I’ve dealt with many doubts around actually succeeding as a musician, but the more I realize how blessed I am to be financially supported, the more I strive to be a good steward of those blessings.
