Are you ready to have your creations go viral? Take your content creation skills to the next level through editing and visual effects! Learn end-to-end post-production skills while creating visual shorts worthy of your favorite social media site. The skills learned in this class can be applied to all types of video production, long or short! Topics cover video editing basics, color grading for that visual pop, and creating advanced VFX composites. Student projects are available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Beats and Jams: Digital Music Creators

Begin your rise to the top of the charts with digital music production! Just like today's top artists, you can design your own beats or remix a mashup of your favorite songs to become a digital composer and sound engineer. In this course, you'll learn to produce digital music, record sound, make sound effects, and mix their your tracks. No prior music experience is necessary. The soundtracks you create will be available on a password-protected website to share with friends and family.

Environmental Explorers AM August Session

With a mix of in and out of laboratory experiences, we encourage middle schoolers who have a passion to be outside to investigate their surroundings. With activities based on geology, ecology, microscope use, dissection, and soil studies, the environment will be a new frontier for your child's investigation.

Laura Schulz has her BS in Geosciences from UW Parkside and an MS in Soil Science from UW-Madison. She has worked at UW-Parkside since 2016. Laura teaches courses in Environmental Studies, Geosciences, and Chemistry and is the director of the Root River Environmental Education Community Center (REC) located at 6th Street in Racine.

The mission of the Environmental Explorers Summer Camp held annually at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside is to provide an enriching educational experience for local middle school students interested in the natural sciences. The sessions are hands-on and take place outside, weather permitting. The week also features several field trips.

I enjoyed this camp and think it should be continued throughout the years - 06/23

Camp was fun because we got to be active and hands on while learning something new - 04/23

The camp is extremely fun and the instructors are extremely nice and are easy to make a bond with - 08/23

What type of clothing should my child wear?

This camp has a mix of indoor and outdoor activities (weather permitting), so please make sure your child is dressed appropriate for the weather and wears clothes that are ok to get dirty/muddy. Closed-toed shoes are preferred, however, sandals/water shoes may be appropriate on some days. Camp instructor and director will provide recommendations for clothing based on activities during drop off or pick up.

This camp takes place on UW-Parkside's campus. The camp involves a field trip to the REC and students will also explore in Petrifying Springs parks adjacent to campus. More information regarding drop off and pick up location will be shared a few weeks prior to the camp start date.

A.I. Adventures - Intro to Machine Learning 

Explore the world of artificial intelligence to design fully interactive games and experiences using cutting-edge technology. This program combines artificial intelligence with coding to create an unforgettable learning adventure. Students will construct machine learning models that use image and text recognition within block-based coding software to build a portfolio of projects. Student-created projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
