Dr. Mark DeCheck, MD '79

Mark DeCheck's successful family medicine practice had its beginnings at UW-Parkside. He graduated with majors in biology, chemistry, and German in 1979, and went on to medical school at UW-Madison. Mark then returned to the area for his residency through the Aurora-St. Catherine's Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, which was based at UW-Parkside. 

Mark has spent his career in private practice in Racine. In addition to supporting the health needs of individual patients and families, he is a dedicated leader for the local health community and medical practitioners statewide. Mark has been on the Racine County Health Department Board for 25 years. He has been President of the Racine County Medical Society as well as long term Treasurer, and he also served two terms on the State Medical Society Board and remains on the Nominating Committee. Mark is a director at Hospice Alliance and serves on several committees at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital.

Mark and his wife, Carole, have been married for 29 years and have three children: two in graduate school and one in high school. Mark belongs to the Racine German Club and Roma Lodge. When he is not practicing medicine, he enjoys gardening and taking care of his yard, greenhouse, and half-acre vegetable garden.
