Why did you decide to attend UW-Parkside?
I was a military child and had traveled and lived abroad. I decided to stay in the town where I went to high school to feel a sense of stability and have more than 4 years with friends. (In the military you move every 3-4 years)
Favorite UW-Parkside memory?
Some of my favorite moments are when there were large events such as the duct tape fashion show and the dances.
How did your UW-Parkside experience impact your professional or personal life?
It helped me discover what I needed to work on to be a better version of myself. In college, my mental health concerns were heightened. But I mean adulting is hard, right? I would give anything to tell 16-year-old Shani to stop wanting to be grown!
How have you been involved with UW-Parkside post-graduation?
Shani Chan Fireside Chat will be my first event and I am stoked!!!

Advice for current UW-Parkside students?
Enjoy the moment of college and humble yourself to what it has to offer you. You have the rest of your life to be and act grown. Submit to the experiences to grow from them and learn more about yourself.
