The free BMO Harris Noon Concert Series begins Friday, Oct. 3, with a performance by the Dez Cordas Duo. Each Friday at noon, the community, faculty, staff, and students are invited to enjoy a free concert in the acoustically perfect Bedford Hall. Evening and weekend concerts open with the Parkside Community Orchestra and Symphony performing at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.
Mark your calendar because you will not want to miss performances of Handel's "Messiah" on Sunday, Dec. 7 and Monday, Dec. 8.
The first theatre performance of the season is "Reasons to Be Pretty," a caustic comedy by Neil LeBute. Though sticks and stones can break your bones, Neil LaBute knows that words hurt! In this edgy, contemporary comedy, four friends are forced to question their self-worth amid deceit, insecurity and betrayal. "Reasons to Be Pretty" runs from October 10-19. (Please note: contains adult language.)
Another performance you won't want to miss is "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play." This beloved American holiday classic comes to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. Watch (and listen) as a small ensemble of radio performers brings Bedford Falls wonderfully to life. Buy your tickets now for the performance of your choice, Dec. 4-7.
Entering its 33rd year, the 2014-2015 Foreign Film Series begins Sept. 11-14 with "Submarine," a knowing and evocative film that it brings all of those awkward teenage moments back to us in a flood of anxiety, regret, and excitement. Tickets for the Foreign Film Series are available for season purchase only. Order your season tickets as soon as possible! The most popular show times, Thursday 7:30 p.m., Friday 7:30 p.m., and Saturday 5:00 p.m. have sold out for a number of years running.
